Honey Harvest : Pictures from our first honey harvest end of July. I am about 7 months pregnant here, my friend who's backyard the bees are in is about 8.5 months pregnant here and it all worked out fine. Our friend Tammy took all the pictures since we had our hands full. My lovely husband Adrian helped me a lot with the bees this year, especially the honey frames have been too heavy for me recently. He calls it 'the hobby that you forced on to me' :) Hopefully next year I can handle most things by myself. Being a pregnant beekeeper is fun though.

Montenegro and Dubrovnik : We traveled to Montenegro in September 2009 so my husband and my family who lives in Igalo, Herceg Novi, could meet. While we were there, we also stopped by in Dubrovnik, Croatia, and made a road trip through middle and south Montenegro, exploring Cetinje, spending a night in Podgorica and seeing many curious and beautiful things along the way. It's such a great little country and the olive oil I brought back from there was the tastiest I have ever had.

The weather was beautiful and sunny and we had quite some fun hanging out and discovering. The long drive in the car from San Francisco was a little painful but all in all a great weekend!

Honeymoon Kauai October 2008 : Chicken alert! We went to Kaua'i, Hawai'i for 2 weeks, relaxing and exploring this beautiful island. We found old sugar mills, beautiful cliffs and lots of green. The first week we were in a resort on the south shore, in Poipu from where we explored the south and the west of the island. The second week we were in the north, in Kilauea, near the lighthouse. From there we went on the Kalalau trail and hiked it all the way to Hanakapi'ai falls - 8 miles. It took us 6 hours in total, we only took a 15 minute break every 1.5 hours and it worked out fine, apart from that we did not bring enough food. That hike is one of my most spectacular vacation memories and next time we visit Kaua'i we are planning to do the whole 11 mile walk up to Kalalau beach to feel the Napali Cliffs and Coast from close up. We also went horseback riding a couple times but we got wet each time. October is a borderline month - winter starts and it rains more. The big swells come in and you can be lucky with snorkling but usually the waves are too rough already. Later in winter I heard that they get up to 20 meters high, especially in front of Na Pali as Na Pali has no reefs to protect it. We were lucky to get on a boat trip, it was a very cal day on the sea. All in all a wonderful vacation, we both came back very relaxed.

Sea Otter Classic, Monterey CA : We went to Sea Otter Mountain Bike Festival in Monterey last weekend. Some of us were racing, I was not.
