Santa Barbara and a Wedding : The last weekend of July we went with some friends to another friend's wedding in Santa Barbara. The weather was beautiful and sunny and we had quite some fun hanging out and discovering. The long drive in the car from San Francisco was a little painful but all in all a great weekend!

Honeymoon Kauai October 2008 : Chicken alert! We went to Kaua'i, Hawai'i for 2 weeks, relaxing and exploring this beautiful island. We found old sugar mills, beautiful cliffs and lots of green. The first week we were in a resort on the south shore, in Poipu from where we explored the south and the west of the island. The second week we were in the north, in Kilauea, near the lighthouse. From there we went on the Kalalau trail and hiked it all the way to Hanakapi'ai falls - 8 miles. It took us 6 hours in total, we only took a 15 minute break every 1.5 hours and it worked out fine, apart from that we did not bring enough food. That hike is one of my most spectacular vacation memories and next time we visit Kaua'i we are planning to do the whole 11 mile walk up to Kalalau beach to feel the Napali Cliffs and Coast from close up. We also went horseback riding a couple times but we got wet each time. October is a borderline month - winter starts and it rains more. The big swells come in and you can be lucky with snorkling but usually the waves are too rough already. Later in winter I heard that they get up to 20 meters high, especially in front of Na Pali as Na Pali has no reefs to protect it. We were lucky to get on a boat trip, it was a very cal day on the sea. All in all a wonderful vacation, we both came back very relaxed.

Sea Otter Classic, Monterey CA : We went to Sea Otter Mountain Bike Festival in Monterey last weekend. Some of us were racing, I was not.
